Caitlin and Grant met at a college event. She, a student at the time, had mentioned to an acquaintance of hers that she really wanted to meet Grant, who was the head baseball coach. Before she knew it, the friend was walking her over to him and by some odd coincidence, they had both grown up in the same area — um, can you say “fate”?!
Grant took Caitlin on the most picture-perfect first date, walking along the beach, sitting and talking on Naples Pier, Thai for dinner, and seven hours flew by before they knew it. They were both completely sold!
Caitlin was fully convinced that she would be able to tell when Grant was going to propose. Grant recreated their first date. Halfway through the day, the two went out to Naples Pier. Caitlin, with her back to him and totally clueless of what was about to happen, was looking out at the ocean. Grant, nervously pacing back and forth, took a deep breath before saying, “So, this is where it all began,” telling Caitlin to turn around. She, realizing what was about to happen, started to “nervously blabber” and Grant even had to tell her to stop talking so he could actually get the proposal out!
The wedding — a mix of gorgeous champagne, navy, and gold — was settled into a perfect Minnesotan summer day. The Church of Saint Agnes in St. Paul was a beautiful setting for the ceremony and never ceases to amaze us. The church, however, had NOTHING on the couple. Grant was incredibly handsome in his Calvin Klein attire and was completely smitten with his bride. Caitlin was absolutely gorgeous in her dress, an Eddy K masterpiece, complemented by her flowers from Camrose Hill, a studio and farm based in Stillwater.
Caitlin and Grant put a lot of planning into the ceremony, picking intentional music and liturgy that they believed reflected them and the day the best. They were most excited, though, to celebrate with their family and friends who came from all over for the occasion — some even joining them from France! For us, what really stole the show were the speeches at the reception, held at StoneRidge Golf Club. The best man was an incredible storyteller and the sister’s impromptu speech pulled at the heartstrings of absolutely everyone in the room.
Caitlin + Grant,
We are so happy for you two! You are both such sweet and happy people. Your love is unconditional and together you bring a sense of peace and warmth to those around you. Thank you so much for choosing us to be a part of your wedding day! We will be cheering you on forever and ever — even if we’re a little (okay, more than a little) jealous that you live in sunny Florida ;)
